Dry Back v Glue Down LVT Flooring

Dry Back LVT Flooring
Dry back LVT, also known as glue down LVT, is a type of flooring that requires adhesive to be applied to the subfloor during installation. This method creates a permanent, secure bond that’s ideal for high-traffic areas or spaces with heavy furniture. Dry back LVT provides a more stable and long-lasting solution compared to click systems, especially in larger areas where floor expansion and contraction can be a concern. It also allows for more design flexibility, including laying patterns like herringbone or bespoke layouts. However, because of the adhesive process, it’s important that the subfloor is properly prepared and level to ensure a smooth finish.
Glue Down LVT Flooring
While "glue down" and "dry back" LVT are often used interchangeably, the key distinction lies in how they're described rather than how they function. Both terms refer to LVT that must be fixed to the subfloor with adhesive. "Dry back" typically refers to the product itself – it has no click system and no pre-applied adhesive. "Glue down" describes the method of installation. In essence, they are the same thing: both involve applying glue to the floor and then placing the LVT tiles or planks over it. This method contrasts with click or loose lay LVT, which doesn’t require adhesive and can be installed more quickly but may lack the stability offered by glue down options, particularly in busy commercial environments or homes with underfloor heating.

"Fabulous flooring. I love my new flooring throughout my whole house. Sam is amazing & kept in touch every step of the way from ordering to fitting. Excellent customer service. Willy was amazing too with my very challenging kitchen. The quality of the floor is excellent, as is the workmanship. Jack too was a very hard working apprentice. The whole house was done in 2 days.
